Clean water from a pipe or a tap, reached in the first hours, is the easy case: carpet is lifted, underlay checked, the room dried, and nothing much comes out. The same water left for days has soaked the underlay, wicked up the plasterboard and crept under the kitchen kick-boards, and those come out before the drying can start. Storm water has been through the roof space on the way down. Floodwater and sewage are contaminated whatever the timing, so the porous materials they touched are removed rather than dried, and what stays is cleaned and treated.
The quiet case is the wall that was wiped down after a leak months ago and never dried inside. It shows up as mould, and the drying has to happen before the remediation under IICRC S520 can hold.
The restoration line is available 24/7. On arrival a technician traces the water to its source and measures how far it has travelled, through the flooring layers, the wall cavities and the joinery, because the surface dries first and tells you nothing about the rest. You see that scope before anything is removed.
