Intro
How Elite Maintenance Services Group collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information, and how to access or correct your details.
Introduction
We take a pro-active approach to protecting personal information through voluntary compliance with the National Privacy Principles as they apply to our industry. New provisions in the Privacy Act 1988 (affecting private-sector organisations with annual turnover over $3 million) took effect on 21 December 2001; while not directly bound by them, they apply when we are contracted by a government or other agency to supply a service.
Our Privacy Policy is intended to strengthen client relationships through greater confidence and trust, and to support contract work for larger organisations.
Use and disclosure of information
Personal information will not be used for any purpose other than that for which it was originally collected, unless:
- the individual gives express permission;
- we reasonably believe use or disclosure is necessary to lessen or prevent a serious and imminent threat to any individual's life, health or safety; or
- disclosure is requested by a law-enforcement body.
Collection of information
We collect only the information necessary for Elite's activities, gathered by fair and lawful means. When collecting personal information we take all reasonable steps to ensure you are aware of:
- the identity of the Elite organisation and how to contact us; and
- the purpose for which the information is being obtained.
Data management and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse or unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including:
- security of electronic data;
- staff induction and training programs; and
- non-disclosure clauses and agreements.
Access and openness
On request, we can provide general information about the type of personal information we hold, how it was obtained, and the purpose for which it is used, disclosed or destroyed. Any errors will be corrected on request.
