Water leak detection locates a hidden leak, in a pipe inside a wall or ceiling, under a concrete slab, behind a shower or through a roof, without opening the building on a guess. The first job is to confirm there is a leak at all. With every tap and appliance off, a meter that keeps turning says water is escaping somewhere. A pressure test on a section of pipe narrows it down.
Locating it is the next step, and the right method depends on where it is. Listening equipment picks up water escaping from a pressurised line. Thermal imaging shows temperature differences where water sits behind a surface, which suits hot water lines and wet areas. Moisture readings map how far the water has spread. None of these is perfect on its own: noise and depth can mask a leak, and a thermal image shows the wet area, not always the source. That is why they are used together.

Not to find the leak. Only the repair needs access, at the marked spot.
Can I check for a leak myself?
Turn off every tap and appliance and watch the water meter. If it still moves, something is leaking.
Does insurance cover it?
It depends on your policy. Damage from a sudden leak is often part of a claim; your insurer decides what is covered.
Can a leak under a slab be found?
Yes, by confirming it under pressure and then locating it from above, so the slab is opened in one place.
What happens to the water damage?
It is measured and dried in line with IICRC S500 so it doesn’t lead to mould.
Who fixes a leak before the meter?
Pipes on the street side of the meter are usually the water supplier’s responsibility. Check with them before booking a repair.
