Asbestos removal in Brisbane is mostly about the city’s older housing stock. Homes built before the 1990s often have fibro walls, asbestos eaves, roof sheeting or old vinyl floor tiles, and a renovation is usually what brings it to light. We contain the area, remove and wrap the material, and take it away for proper disposal, using our own in-house technicians.
It is booked before a kitchen or bathroom renovation, after a pre-purchase inspection, when sheeting has been damaged, or before a demolition.
“We had a pipe burst in our ceiling, water seeped into our walls and our unit was at a very high risk for mould :( Guosheng worked tirelessly to ensure the drying process went as smooth as possible, even working until the evening on a Friday to ensure our walls would be dry and safe over the weekend! An extremely proficient and productive company that thrives on providing excellent service and quality work. Thank you so much for all of your help! <3”
“Guosheng from Elite Restoration did an amazing job dealing with the water damage to my unit, due to a burst pipe. Nothing was too hard and Guosheng had multiple tricks up his sleeve to ensure maximum drying capacity. The communication throughout the whole process was excellent, which made this very stressful situation for me a lot easier to handle. Thanks so much Guosheng.☺️”
The material is confirmed by sampling, with analysis through NATA-accredited laboratory partners, then the scope is quoted.
The work area is sealed with plastic sheeting and kept clear of people and pets.
Sheets are wetted down and taken off whole wherever possible, not broken.
Technicians wear protective equipment and decontaminate before leaving the area.
Everything is double-wrapped in heavy plastic, labelled, and taken to a facility that accepts asbestos waste.
The area is cleaned, and where the rules require it, an independent assessor issues a clearance certificate.
Bonded or friable
Most asbestos in Brisbane homes is bonded, set in cement like fibro sheeting, and fairly stable while intact. Friable asbestos, such as old insulation or lagging, crumbles and releases fibres easily. Queensland rules require a licensed removalist for more than 10 square metres of bonded asbestos and for any friable asbestos, which needs a Class A licence.
Close by and accountable
Brisbane jobs are run from our head office in Acacia Ridge, 13.7 km away. The work is done by Elite’s in-house qualified technicians, not subcontractors, who are police-checked and fully insured, with $20 million in public and products liability cover. The business is CM3 certified for contractor OH&S and compliance. We cover Brisbane City, New Farm, Paddington, Bulimba, Hamilton, Toowong, Indooroopilly, West End, Woolloongabba and the suburbs between.
Brisbane asbestos removal questions
How do I know if my house has asbestos?
You can’t tell by looking. If the home was built before the 1990s, have suspect material sampled and tested before you cut or drill it.
Can I stay home during removal?
The work area is sealed off and must be kept clear. For larger jobs you may be asked to stay away until the area has been cleaned and cleared.
Can I remove it myself?
Only small amounts of bonded asbestos, with strict precautions. More than 10 square metres, or any friable asbestos, needs a licensed removalist.
