Asbestos testing on the Sunshine Coast tells you whether suspect materials in an older home, shed or building contain asbestos. With so many people relocating to the coast, it often comes up when a buyer’s inspection flags something, or when new owners plan their first renovation. Samples are taken safely, analysed through NATA-accredited laboratory partners, and set out in a written report.
“We had a pipe burst in our ceiling, water seeped into our walls and our unit was at a very high risk for mould :( Guosheng worked tirelessly to ensure the drying process went as smooth as possible, even working until the evening on a Friday to ensure our walls would be dry and safe over the weekend! An extremely proficient and productive company that thrives on providing excellent service and quality work. Thank you so much for all of your help! <3”
“Guosheng from Elite Restoration did an amazing job dealing with the water damage to my unit, due to a burst pipe. Nothing was too hard and Guosheng had multiple tricks up his sleeve to ensure maximum drying capacity. The communication throughout the whole process was excellent, which made this very stressful situation for me a lot easier to handle. Thanks so much Guosheng.☺️”
A conversation about your plans and the materials in question.
Careful sampling, with the material wetted and the area protected.
Sealed, labelled samples sent to a NATA-accredited laboratory partner.
A written report on what was sampled, the results, the material’s condition and the options.
Common places to check in homes built before the 1990s include fibro walls and eaves, roof sheeting, old fences, bathroom and laundry linings, and the backing of vinyl floor tiles.
Why testing comes first
Asbestos can’t be identified by eye. Sheeting with it and sheeting without it can look exactly the same, and the risk comes from disturbing it: cutting, drilling, sanding or breaking it releases fibres. Testing before work starts means the plan can be made safely.
After the result
If asbestos is found and is intact, it can often stay where it is. If it is damaged, or a renovation will disturb it, Elite’s in-house qualified technicians can remove it.

Sunshine Coast asbestos testing questions
How do I know if my home has asbestos?
You can’t tell by looking. If it was built before the 1990s, have suspect materials tested.
Can I take a sample myself?
Breaking off a sample can release fibres, so it is safer to have it taken with the area protected.
Is a visual inspection enough?
No. A building inspection can flag likely materials; a laboratory confirms them.
What does the report include?
What was sampled and where, the laboratory result, the condition of each material, and the options from here.
Do I always need removal?
No. Intact bonded asbestos that won’t be disturbed can often stay.
