Before photos are taken.
Gutters and valleys are vacuumed and cleared by hand, with debris bagged and taken away.
Each downpipe is flushed until it runs freely.
After photos show the finished gutters, which you can’t see from the ground.
Why downpipes come first
Leaves and silt wash to the outlet and jam there. Once a downpipe blocks, the gutter above holds water, rots the debris into sludge and spills over in the next downpour, sometimes back into the eaves rather than out to the garden. Clearing the gutter without flushing the downpipe only solves half the problem.
From the ground, look for water pouring over the gutter edge in rain, plants growing out of the gutter line, stained fascia boards, or a downpipe that barely runs in a downpour. Any one of them means the gutter is holding water it should be shedding.
